Sessions
April – June 2009
Songs for National Geographic recorded and mixed this month. I recorded an audiobook for Simon & Schuster as well.
Tim Conyers was in recording piano demos on the Steinway.
Mixing Cindy Barth’s record this month. I tracked drums here in January and she took the tracks back to her home studio and recorded bass, guitars, vocals and such. Seventeen songs!
I had a vocal session for the Hermie & Friends DVD series.
I received a 1948 wire recorder for Father’s Day which I hope to integrate into the studio for some real ‘lo-fi’ recording chores.
Mix for a television show this month. I received a rough cut for a documentary about Chris Whitley that I’m hoping to mix. Looks very good and CW fans will be excited when this one comes out. There are still a few interviews slated to be shot and a release date has not been set.
Songwriter/Producer Gardner Cole was in from Phoenix writing with Karen Taylor-Good for an upcoming record for Jonathan McEuen. Jonathan played guitar on the session, Gardner, keys and vocals. Other writers working in the Lounge, Victor Crowl and Melody Guy. All the songs will be candidates for Jonathan’s upcoming album.
I’m prepping for a few more songs for National Geographic to be recorded in June.
Took the motor coach to Vegas this month for NAB. Nothing new at NAB to get excited about. Attendance down – Apple a no-show. Sign of the times, I guess.
January – March 2009
Lisa Firestone is in working on a couple of songs.
Matt Brown is in this month mixing a cut from the upcoming Social Ghost album.
ASC, makers of Studio Traps, has added a link to my site. I’ve been a Studio Trap user for many years now.
Patricia Dean was in recording vocals for her upcoming album.
Songwriter Jennifer Ceccarelli just completed recording several song demos for her publisher.
UCF Director of Percussion Studies and music professor Jeff Moore is in recording drums for his latest instruction book and CD “Drumstick Control” for Alfred Publishing.
Lisa Firestone was just in recording basic tracks for “If I Could Do More”. This song will be included on the album “The Life That’s Chosen Me”, produced by Randy Grossman. Final overdubs and mix will take place in Nashville. Once the basic track was complete, Lisa stayed with her rhythm section to record a few more tracks for an upcoming album.
I just finished drum and percussion tracking for a CD by Cindy Barth. Mixing is to come as she completes her project at her home studio.
I am finishing up final music mixes for a project for National Geographic.
